One of Laredo’s advertising agencies won several national accolades for their work in the community and the service they do. And the leaders of the agency stated that advertising is extremely important because it enhances the business community that it represents.
Recently, PMDG Marketing Communications — the Laredo company that provides local full-service advertising services — was recognized by the American Advertising Federation at their annual American Advertising Awards. The agency received five ADDY Awards including three Gold ADDYS for projects representing several local and regional businesses and organizations.
Both recipients of the awards, A.B. Barrera and Paco Barrientos, offered some words and also pointed out how advertising continues to be a major stepping stone for all types of businesses.
“We feel extremely excited and honored to have received five ADDY Awards this year,” the two said in a joint statement. “Although we have received ADDYS in the past, this is the first time we are honored with Gold ADDYS. This reaffirms our commitment to developing strong brands and successful campaigns for our clients.”
The five awards awarded to both men and their agency included:
Laredo Mask Coalition “Keep it on Laredo” Campaign – Gold ADDY for Best Integrated Media Public Service Campaign.
Laredo Mask Coalition “Keep it on Laredo” Logo – Gold ADDY for Elements of Advertising and Best Logo Design.
AAF Rio Grande Valley “ADDYS Online” – Gold ADDY for Best Advertising Industry Self-Promotion.
Webb County Heritage Foundation “Dining Under Seven Flags” – Bronze ADDY for their Cross Platform – Best Integrated Advertising Campaign
Consumer Campaign Local and the AAF Rio Grande Valley “ADDYS Online” – Special Judge’s Award for Best Pandemic Solution.
Although the co-CEOs are past ADDY Award winners — having received over 15 ADDYS throughout the years — this marks the first time the local advertising leaders have received Gold ADDYS. This achievement also represents the first time any Laredoans have been recognized with a GOLD ADDY Award by the American Advertising Federation.
“We hope to continue to provide our innovative ideas to local and regional businesses and to help make their businesses successful,” Barrera said. “We love Laredo, and it’s our priority to ensure that local businesses and their brands are being branded and marketed professionally. We love what we do and we want to be able to put Laredo and South Texas on the map when it comes to marketing and advertising.”
Barrera and Barrientos state that one of the reasons why they were awarded for their hardwork has to do with the fact that this local agency understands Laredoans, the way they communicate and especially knowing how to reach to the most vulnerable populations of the city.
“We’re from here and we understand the culture and our unique language of comfort,” Barrera said. “We want the community to realize that we have creative and talented professionals right here at home that can help them grow and be successful.”
Barrera and company state that advertising is not the only true form of communication that exists as there are many ways in which things can be communicated between people to achieve greater things together.
“Advertising is just one form of communication,” the CEOs said in a joint statement. “Communication is more crucial today than ever before. Consumers are getting information fed to them 24/7 on their mobile devices, smartphones, by email and through their social media platforms, not to mention the other traditional forms of advertising that still play a vital role in reinforcing a marketing message.”
According to Barrera, businesses must remain relevant to their audience and communicate effectively and consistently in order to stay in the game.
“They must make an investment in quality advertising and production campaigns in order to remain competitive,” Barrera said. “Businesses that fail to do this will not survive.”
Although Barrera and Barrientos expressed their great support for their achievements, they both stated that nothing could be done without their excellent team that has helped their advertising agency shine and become a staple in the community.
“We are proud of our team and their achievements, and we’re grateful to our clients that put their trust in us,” the duo said in a joint statement. “We thank them for giving us creative freedom and for allowing us to bring their vision to life”.
